Healing with color is very powerful and effective because color is a living energy whose power affects us on all levels.
To comprehend color healing is in the understanding that we are all beings of light, therefore light is essential for our well-being. Light is color and color is energy and not only is it everywhere but all around you.
It can be used to bring balance and harmony within the psyche and the body, it influences our moods, it affects our homes, our workplace, our schools, our hospitals, our very existence.
In healing with color it is known that certain colors definitely affect certain diseases, build new tissues, burn out (cellular) corruption, cure certain nervous troubles and eradicate certain nervous tendencies.
We see this in our hospitals where we use blue light on newborn babies with jaundice.
We also know that some prisons use pink rooms to calm the more violent criminal as this colour depletes energy and many police stations use blue rooms for their interrogations, as the suspect is more apt to tell the truth in a blue room.
By becoming aware of the power of color and its effects on us, we can learn how to make positive changes in our lives.
Even though healing with color has been practiced throughout the Western world for decades the history of healing with color goes back over 5,000 years.
Most of the knowledge on which it is based has been passed down from one generation to another in cultures as diverse as Egyptian, Greek, Chinese, African, Indian, Tibetan, pre-Colombian American and Aboriginal Australian.
Each of these ancient cultures have attached significance to specific colors, whether they be used for shamanic healing ceremonies, various art forms, war paint, scented oils or in social rituals.
The ancient Egyptians wore amulets of colored stones, they wore red to treat disease and build strength, yellow to create happiness, and green to increase fertility.
Disease starts in the Auric Field and if not treated at this level will eventually manifest as a physical disease.
If only the physical ailment is worked with and not the cause, then physical symptoms will continue to manifest.
Take eczema for example, it is often treated allopathically with hydro-cortisone cream. This indeed clears the eczema, but it may recur at a later stage, or the person may contract asthma, as eczema and asthma have a very close relationship, skin and lungs go hand in hand.
Color healing therapy can be used with great success as the therapist works with the physically manifested disease, eczema, in order to keep the body in metabolical equilibrium as well as dealing with the physical and/or emotional cause of the disease.
High levels of stress, trauma or suppressing very strong emotions over a period of time can eventually cause skin disorders. This can be from suppressed anger, which affects the liver; or from sadness, which affects the lungs. Both of these organ systems, for example, have direct links to the quality and health of the skin.
Any stagnated energy that may have accumulated in the etheric layer of the aura is also removed.
There are several ways of detecting stagnant etheric energy. In color healing therapy it can be seen by people who have the gift of auric sight, or felt when the aura is scanned during a color healing session.
Color healing practitioners use the vibrational energies of color in various ways for healing.
Healing with color is simple, it comprises of applying single or multiple colors using their vibrational energy to heal. When embarking on self-healing with color, a good rule of thumb to remember is: "Energy follows thought", in other words where you concentrate your thoughts is where the energy will go.
Therefore by concentrating on a particular healing color through visualization for instance, the energy of that color will be projected by your thoughts. The "unbalanced" vibration in your body will begin to change and start to resonate with your particular chosen healing color.
Every moment of every day your body regenerates, changing your atoms and cells and tissues. It is very important to remember that with the regeneration process the healthy cells as well as the unhealthy cells will reproduce therefore color healing is a good way to keep your body balance.
The above is but one of the numerous ways to heal with color and as there is so much on offer with respect to healing with color, a person could easily get confused and overwhelmed as to which healing modality is appropriate for them.
They all have their success stories and of course their devotees. The truth of the matter is that the best one is the one that works for you.
Each one of us has a unique energy system and to generalize and lump all symptoms, problems and their respective cures into only one category does a great disservice to us as individuals and to humanity as a whole.
For my part I would simply recommend that you listen to your intuition, your inner knowingness and try different color healing modalities for a while to see which one works for you.
It is my belief that the only person who can heal is the person to whom the disease belongs.
The physical body is the instrument that registers your mental, emotional and spiritual imbalances, stemming from either the conscious or unconscious mind. During a healing session the color healing practitioner may be a catalyst, and an assistant to boost your own recuperative system, but your healing must come from within.
"Healing comes from within... It is your journey... You heal yourself." ~Elmarie Swartz, Reiki Master/Teacher
In the book "Cosmic Fire" p.334 that was first published in 1925 the following was written about healing with color:
"The effect of color on people, animals and units in the vegetable kingdom will be studied and the result of those studies will be the development of etheric vision or the power to see the next grade of matter with the strictly physical eye. Increasingly will people think and talk in terms of light, and the effect of the coming developments in this department of human thought will be triple."
