When I cleanse my crystals by smudging before programming, I first give thanks to both the crystal and the smudging tools (bowl/shell, feather, and herbs used. I then run the crystals/stones through the smoke.
Since I use many of my stones for healing, I cleanse them before and after each healing session. I usually hold the stone under timid running water to release the charge.
My schedule of cleaning my crystals are as follows; right after purchasing, before I program, and after each use (very important if used for healing).
When I dedicate my crystal/gemstone I clear my mind, place the stone in my right hand, and gently hold my left hand over the right. I breathe in the energy of the crystal/gemstone and wait until it merges with my energy. Eyes closed, I visualize only positive, pure intention and energy entering the stone.
I sit quietly in my “Time Out” (mediation) room with my crystal/gemstone in hand. I sit until I feel the stone’s energy merge with mine. I call this “bonding time” between me and the crystal. Once I feel the two energies merge, I speak my intention until I feel that it is complete, this is usually when I can visualize my intention. After my stone has been programmed I usually keep it on a nightstand in a crystal bowl for a few nights.
I usually wrap my stones in a white linen hankie with a small cone incense for a week. After that I may transfer it to a silk bag when not being used. I am careful to store smooth crystals together and the ones that have a “rougher” edge together.
Crystals/Stones of Choice
My Personal stone is Tiger’s eye. I have two nose rings that I interchange Tiger’s eye and Turquoise. Since Tiger’s Eye should be discharged every 15 days, I remove it; cleanse it under luke warm water. I then charge it by putting it in a bowl with a piece of hematite and set it in the sunlight.
My parents went on a cross country trip stopping in Arizona, New Mexico, and California when I was around twelve years old. While they returned with lots of shirts, postcards, and other “trinkets”, my favorite souvenir was a small piece of Petrified Wood that I still use as a small paperweight.
Yes. I do realize that technically, Petrified Wood is not a stone, I still remember feeling the vibrations when it was placed in my hand. Whenever I need to be grounded, I go straight to my piece of “wood”.
My first real gemstone that I received was a pair of garnet earrings (my birthstone). Even though the garnet is my birthstone, it is probably one of my least favorite.
My daughters ask me how I choose my crystals, I tell them that I don’t choose the Crystals, they choose me. Most of the time the energy from the crystal is so strong and positive that I know the crystal needs to go home with me.
While I refer to Sea Shells as gifts from the sea, I feel that Crystals and Gemstones are gifts from our Mother (Earth).
Peace and Blessings,
