Your Aura Colors are affected by your mood and emotional state (and sometimes the states of others), and different colors are associated with different qualities and emotions.
The human aura is the energy field that surrounds and interpenetrates your physical body. Think of it like a cocoon of living light - layered, colorful, constantly shifting, and deeply personal.
Ever walked into a room and instantly felt “off” or strangely calm? Most people have. That’s often the first tiny step into understanding energy awareness. You are more than muscles, bones, and thoughts. Many healing traditions believe you also have an energy body - a subtle field of energy that surrounds and moves through you. One part of that system is called the aura.
Your aura isn’t magic smoke floating around your head. Think of it more like an energetic weather report. It reflects your emotions, stress levels, mindset, habits, and sometimes even your deeper growth journey. And yes… aura colors can shift and change over time, just like your mood or energy.
For many people, learning about aura colors becomes a gentle doorway into healing, self-awareness, and personal growth.
Imagine your energy body like light shining through stained glass. Different emotions, thoughts, and life experiences can tint that light with different colors. Some people sense these colors intuitively. Others notice them during meditation, healing sessions, or visualization practices.
You don’t need special powers to begin exploring your aura. Curiosity helps more than perfection.
Every color that can be distinguished within your aura can give you an indication of your state of health, well-being and environment.
Your Aura Colors are a visible reflection of your energy and every color fluctuation designates a particular energy function within your surrounds whether it is personal or environmental.
Remember you don’t stop at your skin, your aura surrounds you, it is an energetic extension of you, filled with a multitude of brilliant colors.
Sometimes color appears strongly. Sometimes it looks soft, cloudy, muted, or bright. Many energy practitioners believe the texture and intensity matter just as much as the shade itself.
Think of it like music. The same note can sound joyful on one day and emotional on another.
When I first started studying the energy body, I expected dramatic spiritual fireworks. Instead, I noticed subtle things first - certain people felt calming, some spaces felt heavy, and colors affected my mood more than I realized. That simple awareness changed how I approached stress, rest, and emotional balance.
That’s where the connection between color and your aura becomes fascinating. Color may influence your emotional state, focus, and energy levels in surprisingly practical ways.
Color psychology has been studied extensively in mainstream science and research shows that colors affect mood, behavior, and even physical responses. Red increases heart rate and creates urgency. Blue promotes calm and focus. Green reduces stress and encourages healing.
Your aura takes this phenomenon deeper.
As far as your aura colors are concerned there is a misconception that your aura color is always the same however as mentioned before your aura colors changes with emotion, feelings, thoughts and spiritual awareness.
When discussing the different colors in your aura it is important to note that another reason the colors in your energy field do not remain static and often changes is because all color is based on the frequency of light energy and ... the movement of these light particles in your auric field responds to external forces, in other words they respond to you and what goes on in the world around you.
While environmental colors influence you externally, your aura colors emerge from within. They reflect your internal state and correspond to specific electromagnetic frequencies your body generates.
Someone's aura is usually a combination of colors, with one being more dominant than the others. And while your aura can constantly shift and change, many people will have one color that consistently shows up.
It is important to note that one color however remains more prevalent than others.
This dominant aura color reveals your core personality traits and life approach which can envelop your whole body. This baseline color remains relatively stable throughout your life, though it can shift with major transformations.
Temporary colors often overlay your dominant shade, changing based on current thoughts and emotions.
You might be wondering how multiple colors work together. Your aura resembles a symphony where different instruments play simultaneously.
One color usually dominates while others provide supporting notes. The combination creates your unique energetic signature.
Do you know your aura color? Why not find out by doing the Aura Test?
Apart from how the different colors are distributed throughout your aura, it is important to mention that the intensity, expansiveness and clarity of colors can also vary extensively.
An Aura Color such as black or brown can denote the same emotion regardless of appearance. (Remember not to assume a person is ill if you see a color that indicates potential to cause illness.)
When looking at the intensity and expansiveness of a specific color in your aura, it is usually a reliable indicator of the strength of its energy. The more intense and expansive the color the stronger its influence and symbolic significance to you.
The empowering nature of a color in your aura is usually established by the observing its clarity or brightness. The clearer or brighter the color the more empowering its influence.
In the same way when you observe dullness or discoloration in your aura colors it almost always signifies a disempowering or debilitating influence.
Colors generally have more than one meaning depending on the appearance (vibrant v. dull) and state (consistent v. spiked).
Now that you have a better understanding of how your aura and color relate and how you can be affected by outside influences, it is important that you know how to:
Once you learn about aura colors and what they mean, you can begin to heal and change those things you previously didn't recognize were holding you back.
Understanding aura colors gives you a roadmap to yourself. When you know what each color represents, you can identify strengths to leverage and imbalances to address.
Working with your aura, the aura layers, the energy fields controlling it, and the associated colors are extremely beneficial to health and well-being, so much so that it is one of the things I make sure my students know and understand very well.
Here is an example: If you for instance saw red in the hip area of a person, not knowing the importance of layers or areas, you might interpret this as meaning the person is angry. However, this might mean that the person has pain, inflammation or an injury in this area.
When looking at someone's aura the first thing to keep in mind and take notice of, is what they are doing in the moment. It is of utmost importance that you do this as it would definitely influence the colors you see in their aura.
It is also important to note where the color appears in their aura.
One of the most crucial factors that people most often overlook is that the colors within the different layers and areas of the aura can mean completely different things.
Aura healing isn’t about escaping reality. It’s about becoming more aware of yourself.
Many people explore energy healing to support:
Practices often include meditation, breath work, grounding exercises, visualization, movement, chakra work, or energy healing sessions. None of these replace medical care, but many people find them calming, centering, and deeply supportive alongside traditional wellness approaches.
No color is “good” or “bad.” That’s important to remember. A bright red aura may reflect courage and vitality one day, then stress or frustration another day. Context matters. Your energy changes as your life changes.
Always remember that the different colors of the aura can mean different things to different people and aura colors and what they mean can also be different in different situations. Below I have given a short description of the aura colors which is discussed in much more depth in "The Human Aura Course".
Red relates to the physical body, in particular the blood (your physical life force) and is an action color.
It is one of the most powerful aura colors.
People with red auras are action-oriented powerhouses. They don't overthink - they do.
These individuals possess strong survival instincts, physical stamina, and deep connection to their bodies for instance athletes, builders, soldiers, and anyone working in physically demanding fields often display prominent red energy.
Red has the lowest frequency and is the densest color in the spectrum.
It can be positive or negative, it creates the most friction which either attracts or repels.
Red is also nature's warning color.
Red in the aura can indicate success, willpower, passion, competitiveness, high energy, attraction, vitality, survival instinct, courageousness, strength, brilliance and competitiveness.
Since it can indicate high levels of dense emotion be aware that it can represent rebellion, aggression, anger or unforgiveness, anxiety or nervousness, impulsiveness or hate.
Achievers, adventurers and highly sexual people have a lot of red in their auras.
When looking at aura colors and what they mean, it is important to keep in mind that red can also mean "heat" and can therefore indicate swelling, pain or injury on the physical body.
Orange is excitement, vitality, vigor, good health, it's an outgoing, warm and spontaneous color.
It's normally representing of courage, joy and a very sociable personality.
Orange blends reds vitality with yellows mental energy, creating the perfect frequency for creative expression and emotional flow.
This color radiates from your sacral chakra, the energy center governing creativity, sexuality, and emotional intelligence.
It's associated with the sexual organs...
... it is indicative of a person's emotions and feelings about this area of their body.
Orange aura individuals are the artists, performers, and innovators who color outside the lines and inspire others to do the same.
These people feel deeply and show those feelings openly and this authenticity draws others to them like magnets. Social connection matters deeply to orange aura individuals.
Muddy shades of orange, near to a brownish color indicates emotional imbalances such as excessive pride, vanity or worry and it can even mean a severe condition of sorts.
When looking at the aura colors and what they mean should the orange appear in the head area it can represent laziness in a person.
A person that has ambition or is searching for new spiritual paths normally has pastel shades of orange in their aura.
Yellow is creative, playful, optimistic and easy-going.
Yellow is intellect, a mental color.
This color will most often be seen around the head, probably more often than any other color.
Yellow radiates from your solar plexus chakra, the power center of personal identity, mental function, and self-confidence.
If you have a yellow aura, your superpower is your mind. You process information quickly, make connections others miss, and communicate complex ideas with clarity.
Teachers, writers, scientists, and analysts often display strong yellow energy.
Yellow not only signifies thinking, concentration, learning or studying but can also indicate spiritual development, the very pale yellow to white shades.
It is also the color of awakening, inspiration and action shared. On a physical level it correlates to the spleen and to the person's energy source, aka "chi".
Yellow also indicates strong personal boundaries and healthy self-esteem. You know who you are, what you want, and how to assert yourself respectfully.
Muddier shades of yellow in the aura indicates the person might express fussy or over analytical behavior or the need for attention. They might also feel that they need recognition.
Harsh, lemon-yellow tones can indicate ego problems. You might become arrogant, intellectually condescending, or unable to admit mistakes.
Green sits at the center of the color spectrum, just as the heart chakra sits at the center of your energy system. This is the frequency of balance, healing, and unconditional love.
Green is also health and comfort representing nature and nature's growth, the color of renewal, the color of healing.
When seen in the aura this usually represents growth and balance, and most of all, something that leads to change.
Many healers have green in their aura.
If you observe bright shades of green blending into an electric blue in a persons aura colors they more than likely have healing abilities and generally work with healing energy.
Green aura individuals are natural healers and caretakers. They're drawn to helping professions - nursing, counseling, teaching, social work.
But you don't need a specific career to be a healer. These people heal simply through their presence.
You might also observe green in the aura if a person is healing from something be it emotional, physical, mental or spiritual.
Unbalanced green manifests as giving too much. These individuals sacrifice their own needs to help others, eventually depleting themselves.
They struggle to receive love and support, only knowing how to give.
Yellowish-green or the muddier green shades can indicate jealousy, possessiveness, or resentment and untrustworthiness.
Blue is calm and peace.
Blue flows from your throat chakra, the energy center governing communication, self-expression, and authentic truth.
This color represents the throat, specifically the thyroid.
Blue aura individuals are gifted communicators. They express themselves clearly, listen deeply, and value honest conversation.
Since blue communicates...
... and is the color of expression when it appears in the aura of an individual you may be dealing with:
People with a great deal of blue are often very sensitive to and supportive of others.
If your aura is blue, you're intuitive and you love helping people.
Blue also indicates calmness and emotional stability. While red runs hot and orange flows with emotion, blue remains cool and centered.
Blue aura people rarely panic during crisis. They're the calm voice of reason when chaos erupts and others lean on them for support.
Unbalanced blue manifests as either too much or too little communication. Excessive blue makes you talk constantly, interrupt others, or dominate conversations.
Lies or manipulation create distortions in blue energy. Even small dishonesties affect your throat chakra and show in your aura as murky or blocked blue frequencies.
Violet is associated with the pituitary gland, pineal gland and the nervous system.
Indigo, violet and purple are spiritual colors...
... and are associated with the third eye and crown chakras.
These aura colors are generally found around the head.
Violet indicates a person who has a deep connection with spirit or is pursing a path of active spiritual growth.
People with violet auras possess natural intuitive and psychic abilities. They receive information through dreams, visions, or sudden knowing.
These individuals are drawn to spiritual seeking, mysticism, and understanding life's deeper meaning. Surface-level existence doesn't satisfy them.
They need purpose, connection to something greater, and answers to big questions. Purple aura people often work as spiritual teachers, energy healers, or guides.
Even in conventional careers, they approach work from a spiritual perspective. Everything becomes a practice of consciousness.
The muddier shades can reflect erotic imaginations, an overbearing person or someone with a need for sympathy.
Indigo relates to the third eye and shows an intuitive and sensitive person.
It indicates an individual who may enjoy taking an interest in the paranormal or Extra Sensory Perception. Their attention wants to turn inwards.
An indigo aura often indicates a highly sensitive and empathic person. When I see an indigo aura on a person, I immediately know they are someone who absorbs thoughts, feelings, emotions, and traumas of others.
Indigo specifically indicates strong third eye activation. These individuals see beyond surface appearances into the energetic reality underneath.
They might literally see auras, spirits, or energy patterns others miss.
They need purpose, connection to something greater, and answers to big questions.
In your aura, the color pink represents a loving person, shows a purity of intention and can indicate a strong love for art and beauty.
Pink aura individuals are gentle, affectionate, and naturally nurturing.
Pink indicates someone who sees life through the lens of love. Bright, clear pink suggests romantic love, new relationships, or creative inspiration.
These people prioritize relationships above achievement or status. They create harmony wherever they go and often work in caring professions or artistic fields.
If you've recently fallen in love, you'll have a significant amount of pink in your aura. It can however also represent a lack of energy in a person.
Artists or sensual people who appreciate the finer things in life tends to have a lot of pink in their auras.
Gold in the aura represents an inspired individual with spiritual energy, their power activated and awakened, an intellect that is pursuing philosophy or the wisdom of sacred geometry.
Gold represents the highest achievement of spiritual development combined with practical wisdom. This rare frequency indicates enlightenment that remains grounded in physical reality.
Gold aura individuals have integrated all aspects of being - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. They're not just spiritually aware; they embody spiritual principles in everyday life.
When looking at aura colors gold also indicates a strong connection to the "I AM" presence of the Divine. This color also indicates divine protection. Gold acts as a powerful shield against negative energy while attracting positive opportunities and people.
Dark brownish yellow or gold indicates a person who is straining at studying or trying to make up for "lost time" by learning everything all at once, is overly analytical to the point of feeling fatigued and stressed.
When silver/white stands out in the aura it signifies pure pranic energy, chi, life force, truth and purity of spirit.
It is an indication that spirit and healing energies are present.
It also indicates that the spirit of the individual is purifying and cleansing and of greatest spiritual awakening as in yogis and gurus.
Abundance and Intuitive Gifts
Silver/white is associated with lunar energy, intuition, and spiritual abundance. This metallic shade indicates psychic abilities, especially clairvoyance and communication with spiritual realms.
Silver/white aura individuals often work with energy healing, divination, or spiritual counseling. They possess sharp intuition and receive guidance from non-physical sources.
Grounding and Practical Wisdom
Brown isn't negative—it indicates deep earth connection and practical wisdom. Healthy brown appears in farmers, craftspeople, and anyone working intimately with the physical world.
However, muddy or excessive brown can suggest being overly focused on material concerns, stuck in survival mode, or lacking spiritual connection.
Black draws or pulls energy to it and in so doing, transforms it. It captures light and consumes it.
It is the color of protection...
It is not always bad and does not always mean death or terminal illness.
Black is a warning sign in most cases when seen as part of the aura colors but can also mean that a person is protecting himself from outside influences.
Be careful how you handle seeing black in a persons aura.
When black spots appear in the aura, it can be something as simple as a previous operation or a cold on the chest. Instead of rendering an opinion rather just suggest that the person see a doctor.
