SERAPHIM - The FIERY or BURNING Ones!

The Seraphim (singular "Seraph"), mentioned in Isaiah 6:1-7 [1], were considered the Highest or First Order or Choir in the Hierarchy of Angels. They are part of the Heavenly Counselors and are from the First Hierarchical Sphere.

They are the most perfect creation of Divine Wisdom and Omnipotence apart from the masterpiece of human nature of the Incarnate Word.

They are bright with a radiance which beyond all else, most powerfully and most wonderfully reflects the splendors of the infinite Godhead.

By some their name is interpreted as "the exalted ones".

But their name is more commonly connected to the Hebrew root verb "saraph" meaning "to burn or to consume with fire" and / or the noun "saraph" meaning "a fiery, flying serpent".

They are therefore widely known as the "fiery or burning ones" and are also often referred to as "Fiery Serpents".

They are the angels of divine fire and the flame they burn is that of love and light, it's effects being to enlighten and cleanse.

Seraphim - Living Flames...

They are literally living flames, are the closest to God as they serve as the caretakers of God's throne and are continuously singing the "Trisagion"; translating to "Holy, Holy, Holy".

It is said that there are four Seraphim surrounding God's throne, where they burn eternally from their love and zeal for God.

The intensity of their adoration and pure Love of God pour out of them as a flawless reflection of the divine Love that emanates from God.

Each angel radiate such light, likened to the rising sun, that nothing, not even other divine beings, can look upon them.

Behold their magnificence...

"Isaiah 6" in the Old Testament speaks of them "having six wings; two covering the face, two covering the feet, and two were used for flying and that one of them touched Isaiah's lips with a live coal from the altar, cleansing him from sin".

They are associated with the colour of white. Unlike other Seraphim who had six wings, Lucifer (the Fallen Angel) was featured to have twelve wings.
