What are Chakras?
Chakras your Gift Of Divinity
Chakras are your Gift Of Divinity, they are you inner GOD, the very essence of who you are, according to C. S. Arewa.
They
are energy transducers in the aura in which we receive, process, and transmit
universal life force energies. These energy centres also serve to integrate the
physical, emotional, psychological
and spiritual facets of the human into a
coherent whole. They are responsible for creating and maintaining your very
existence.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning "wheel"; resembling a spinning vortex of energy, a vibrating cosmic light, that bring physical form into being.
There are seven major energy centres in
the human energy body. In addition to this there are more than 20 minor ones,
for instance in the palm of your hands and under the soles of your feet.
The energy that radiates from these energy vortexes keep your heart beating,
causes you to take life giving breaths and sets your thoughts and emotions in
motion. Without the chakras we would not be here.
- The Chakras are the seven power points in the human body that circulate energy or life force also known as "prana,ki or chi".
- They are located within our physical and etheric or subtle body.
- They are vertically aligned in the centre of the body close to the spine, in a line running down the centre of the body from just above the top of the head to the base of the spine.
The actual functions and attributes of these energy vortexes with regard to our physical body is an involved topic, many complex claims are put forth in this regard. Generally though, there is an overlapping and sharing of functions amongst the energy centres.
The description of the functions of these energy centres is also not simply physiological, but psychological as well. Hence, when discussing their functions we are relating physiological functions with psychological behaviours.
Generally speaking however, the three
lower energy centres (the root, sacral and solar plexus) associates with the
basic primary needs, those of survival, procreation and will, and have a larger
physiological component to their functioning. The four higher energy centres
(the heart, throat and third eye) are more related to our psychological makeup
and are more advanced, more mature, defining love, communication and knowledge;
the crown centre is purely spiritual, providing the connection to the Universe
beyond or Source.
The physiological roles of the chakras are roughly as follows:
-
The
root and sacral chakras are related to generative and sexual functions.
- The solar plexus is related to digestion.
- The heart is related to the heart and circulation.
- The throat is related to the lungs and the voice, including the ears, nose, and throat.
- The third eye is related to vision, the eyes, and the pituitary gland.
- The crown is related to the brain, and especially the pituitary and pineal glands.
The psychological roles of the chakras are roughly as follows:
- The root is related to security, survival and also to basic human potentiality.
- The sacral is related to emotion, sexuality and creativity.
- The solar plexus is related to energy, assimilation and digestion.
- The heart is related to love, equilibrium, and well-being. It is here that you find the Golden Gate, if this median point is not clear, nor can your third eye be clear and insightful.
- The throat is said to be related to communication and growth, growth being a form of expression.
- The third eye is the energy centre of time and awareness and of light.
- And the one on your crown is said to be the centre of consciousness.
When we heal dis-ease holistically, we always work to affect the flow of energy because when energy flows freely through the whole body it creates harmony and releases the dis-ease. Our chakras and energy support our physical form. Thereby through balancing these energy centres and improving the flow of energy we create change from the core, which is our energy system, to the periphery, which is the physical body.

Lost your "groove"?
The following mini-quiz will give you an indication and help reveal which of
your chakras may need to be brought into balance. (Remember it's by no means a
conclusive test)
Which colour do you have the least of in your home and wardrobe?
a) Red b) Orange c) Yellow d) Green e) Blue f) Indigo g) Violet
Which is your favourite colour?
a) Red b) Orange c) Yellow d) Green e) Blue f) Indigo g) Violet
The colour you have the least of is probably your chakra that needs the most
work at the moment. Bring balance to this energy centre by wearing more of
that specific colour. Your favourite colour is most likely your most
developed chakra. Try bringing balance by developing the opposite energy
centre.
Get your "groove" back?
-
You
are feeling withdrawn and struggling to communicate. Wear a turquoise scarf
or put a bunch of blue flowers in your room to help balance your fifth
chakra. - You've gone on a binge - food, sex, whatever - yet again. It could be that your sacral is under-active. Try eating orange food or wearing something orange.
- Feeling exhausted? Add some orange and yellow to your outfit and environment. Orange increases vitality and energy, and yellow is the colour of optimism.
- Someone has just stolen your parking space and you are literally seeing red. You need to calm down, so focus on the colour green. A green traffic light would be good but visualizing calm green moss will bring your blood pressure down.
Do you know which of the chakras belong to which colours?
